“ibis” Hotels has established its presence in Coimbatore, making it the third outlet in Tamil Nadu and the seventh in the southern part of the country.

Promoted by InterGlobe Hotels, ibis Coimbatore City Centre would be the group’s 16th hotel in the country apart from 6 under development, Shswetank Singh, Vice President (Development and Asset Management), InterGlobe Hotels Pvt Ltd said.

InterGlobe has invested ₹58 crore in the establishment of the facility in Coimbatore.

Singh further said that InterGlobe Hotels, which is a joint venture between InterGlobe Enterprises and Accor Asia Pacific has pumped in close to ₹1500 crore this far towards developing ibis brand of hotels. “This is expected to touch ₹2300 crore considering that six more hotels are in various stages of development.”

Network The group plans to open one more outlet in Bengaluru, one at Pune - slated to be inaugurated later this year and a branch in Kolkata - during the next year, besides adding three more in Mumbai.

“We will have a network of 21 hotels and 3800 keys (read rooms) by 2021,” said Pierre-Etienne de Montgrand, Director (Operations), ibis &ibis Styles - India.

To a query on business growth, Montgrand said that the momentum of growth would continue as in the last three years. “This brand will add value to our clientele in Coimbatore. We will target business travellers and tourists as well. The supply is adequate,” he added.

On impact of GST and demonetisation, Singh said “we foresee an increase in the development cost by 7 - 8 per cent due to GST, but the impact due to demonetisation has been marginal.”
