In a first of its kind initiative, the Karnataka Government has launched an app that aims to make citizen services such as paying property tax, book train tickets, pay bills and other services easy.
These services can be accessed through a normal feature phone, which is used by more than 70 per cent of users in india.
The app is available on iOS and Android stores. For people not having a smartphone, one can dial 161 and access these services by SMS. Through this platform, the Karnataka Government wants to continue to maintain its lead as the software hub of india. A range of services from helping farmers in rural places to urban citizens has been rolled out.
The Secretary for IT, BT, Science and Technology, Srivatsa Krishna, said that with services like this, the State is on track to become the largest cluster for technology companies, surpassing the leader Silicon Valley.
