Dealers Digital Shoppe, a consortium of Kerala-based small-scale home appliances dealers, has been getting an encouraging customer response for consumer products supplied through its dealer network in rural centres.
Rajasekharan Pillai, Chairman, said DDS was floated as a limited liability firm one year back to assist small-scale home appliance dealers, who were unable to avail of discounts for not purchasing various brands in bulk from manufacturers. For those dealers who were incapable of investing a huge amount, merging into a single enterprise helped them sustain in today's competitive world.
With 210 members and a ₹50-crore turnover in one year, DDS is now targeting ₹100-crore business and a membership of 500 by the end of this festival season, he said, adding that Kerala's home appliance market is estimated at ₹2,000 crore, and of this, 50-60 per cent business happens during the Onam season.
“We have already started Smart Fest 2017 where consumers will get the chance to participate in a weekly lucky draw contest with exciting prizes,” he said.
Pillai claimed that DDS is the first consortium of small-scale home appliances dealers, and there were enquiries to replicate the model in other states.
