Mangaluru Smart City Ltd (MSCL) has planned 44 projects estimated at ₹958.57 crore, according to BH Narayanappa, Managing Director of MSCL.

Addressing presspersons in Mangaluru on Tuesday, he said work orders estimated at ₹106.38 crore have been issued to 10 of these. These works include laying smart roads at a cost of ₹7.56 crore, underground drainage system at a cost of ₹17.50 crore and bus shelters at a cost of ₹9.4 crore among others.

Apart from these ongoing works, tenders have been issued in 12 projects estimated at ₹326.72 crore. These include development of e-smart school infrastructure and a swimming pool in the city. He said nine projects estimated at ₹161.86 crore are in detailed project report stage. These include the rejuvenation of lakes and introduction of smart water metre in the city.

Also, 13 projects estimated at ₹363.61 crore are in concept stage including the development of waterfront in Mangaluru city.

PPP model

Keeping income generation in mind, MSCL has also proposed to take up some projects estimated at ₹912.17 crore under PPP (public private partnership) model.

Of this, work orders have been issued to two works estimated at ₹101.08 crore. These include the installation of rooftop solar system on government buildings and the development of a multi-level car parking in the heart of the city.

Some other projects such as the development of an integral transport hub are still under the concept stage. The proposed transport hub would help ease congestion in the city, he said.
