West Bengal Home Secretary Basudeb Banerjee will meet the State Election Commission to discuss security arrangements during the Panchayat polls. In an earlier meeting last week, the Commission met with the superintendents of police and district magistrates of nine South Bengal districts to talk on districts’ preparedness. On May 20, the State proposed a schedule for conducting the three-phased Panchayat polls on July 2, July 6 and July 9. The third phase of the election was pre-poned by a day (from July 10) considering festivals.
