Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation stone for the Pattiseema lift irrigation project on Sunday.
The Pattiseema irrigation project is aimed at solving the water woes of the parched Rayalaseema region, bringing respite to the farmers. More than 3,000 TMC of flood water drains into the sea from the Godavari and the project seeks to divert the water and thereby address the water needs of the drought-prone Rayalaseema region.
Naidu is keen to transform Andhra Pradesh into a drought-free State. The Pattiseema project is part of the Chief Minister’s resolve to improve water supply and irrigation requirements of the Rayalaseema farmlands.
The project works are expected to commence soon, thereby strengthening the CM’s mission to increase groundwater levels in the State.
Apart from catering to the water needs of the Rayalaseema region, the project seeks to support districts in the delta region by transferring surplus Godavari waters to the Krishna river system.
