Amid reports that President Ramnath Kovind’s office has sent a report on the Election Commission’s complaint against Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh, the poll panel said here on Thursday that it is still awaiting a response from the President’s office on the matter.

Addressing reporters here, senior Election Commission officials said they have not got any information on their complaint. The poll panel expressed its displeasure on Singh’s reported statement that he wants to see Narendra Modi as Prime Minister once again.

The Commission officials also said that a sitting of the Election Commission, scheduled for Friday, will take a final decision on the complaints against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his statement that Army is Modi’s sena and CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury’s complaint against Prime Minister’s address to the nation on Mission Shakti. The panel reiterated that it will not allow the misuse of defence forces for political campaigns. On the complaints against biopic of the Prime Minister too, the Commission will take a final call on Friday.

12 ballot units

In Nizamabad, where 185 candidates are in the fray, the panel said it will use 12 ballot units in every booth. “25000 ballot units have been arranged for the constituency. They have already reached there,” the official added.
