Palladam Hi-Tech Weaving Park (PHWP) has bagged the 'Best National Park Award' under the Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks in the country.

The Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, has acknowledged PHWP as the best, performance-wise among the 70-odd parks in the country at a function held in Surat recently.

Returning to his home state after getting the award from the Union Minister of State for Textiles, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, the Chairman and Managing Director of PHWP, M Senthilkumar, in a release said that the park is fully geared to produce higher value-added items like made up textiles and readymade garments.

It would soon become a bench marking centre for the production of high value-added items, including technical textiles. The total built up area of the park is 7 lakh sq feet.

As many as 400 shuttleless looms are operational in the park at present, and the total investment till date is estimated at over Rs 360 cr, Senthilkumar said.
