Congress party president Rahul Gandhi to tour Vokkaliga heartland of Mandya, Mysuru and tribal belt of Chamarajanagar for two days beginning Saturday. The region is a strong base of the Ahinda community (also minorities, backward classes and Dalits) and also a stronghold of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
On arrival in Mysuru, Gandhi will visit Nada Devathe Chammundeshwari temple. Later he will interact with the youngsters at Maharani's Science college. He is also expected to conduct roadshows and street corner meetings in Santemarahalli, Yellandur, Kollegala and address public meet at Malavalli.
On Sunday, he will be visiting KR Pete, Pandavapura, Srirangapatna and address public rally in Mysuru city before leaving for New Delhi.
During this visit Gandhi is not likely to visit the Mutts. Lingayat's JSS Mutt and Vokkaliga's Adichunchanagiri mutt is famous in Mysuru and Mandya. Interestingly, many BJP and JDS leaders will be joining the Congress party.
