Tamil Nadu government need to come out with a package for the revival of Nokia’s mobile manufacturing facility near Chennai.

This was put forth to officials of Tamil Nadu government at a meeting held in New Delhi. "It was a productive meeting. The Centre is keen on the revival and it is now the State government that need to act," said sources.

The meeting was attended by officials of the Fast Track Task Force for revival of mobile handset manufacturing industry, constituted under the Union Ministry of Communication, Tamil Nadu government, Department of Electronics and Telecommunication, and the Department of Commerce and Department of Revenue.

Last August, Mohindroo along with Josh Foulger, co-Chairman of the task force and country head of Foxconn, met Tamil Nadu Industry Minister P Thangamani, Industry Secretary CV Sankar, and the IT Secretary TK Ramachandran, on options to revive Nokia’s production facility.

It was the first meeting after the plant’s closure in 2014
