GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) has partnered in the ongoing initiative of Telangana Government for empowerment of women by introducing SHE Cab facility for the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA).
At a formal event organised today at the airport, SGK Kishore, CEO, GHIAL along with CV Anand, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, handed over the identity cards to the female drivers and flagged off the SHE Cabs at the airport.
SGK Kishore in a statement said, “Hyderabad Airport is delighted to partner in the noble initiative of SHE Cabs Scheme which Telangana has taken up for empowerment of women and safety of women passengers. SHE Cabs have various safety features in place and this service will be popular with the women passengers, especially those who are travelling alone.”
Since the introduction of SHE Cab scheme by the Transport Department of Telangana in September 2015. These taxis will be available round the clock. Women passengers will be able to book SHE Cab at the Traffic Police Pre-paid Booth at the airport. Only women passengers or passengers travelling with at least one woman traveller will be able to avail this women special cab services. The SHE Cabs are connected to Police Control Room through GPS and are equipped with a panic button as a safety feature.
