The Telangana government has embarked on a three-pronged strategy to promote plastics and polymers industry attract new investments into the State.
As a part of the initiative, it has earmarked separate land banks for promoters from micro units to medium and large units near the State capital region as this would encourage existing industries to expand and set up new units while also attracting new companies. State Industries Secretary Jayesh Ranjan said infrastructure created by the government, the new industrial policy, round-the-clock power and readily available manpower, will pave the way for new investments in the sector.
Speaking at a meet hosted by TS and AP Plastic Manufacturers Association, Ranjan said the government had identified 100 acres at Mankhal for small and medium enterprises and the infrastructure created at Sultanpur outside the Outer Ring Road (ORR) could be used by larger units.
While urging the industry to make recycling a priority considering the concerns raised with regard to environment sustenance, he said Zaheerabad National Investment and Manufacturing Zone also has space for major players planning to develop mega ventures in plastics and polymers. The industry representatives were called upon to draw up a charter on sustainability.
