The implementation and status of Government schemes in Tamil Nadu will now be monitored online.

Through an Internet-based application tool, officers can monitor the status of schemes and take appropriate decisions. To begin with, the application tool will be used to monitor schemes announced by AIADMK in its election manifesto.

This includes distribution of laptop to students, livestock, electrical appliances such as mixer, grinder and fan, and gold coin for marriage assistance for poor women.

At present, the monitoring is done mainly at the department level. However, the new tool will help officials to monitor the status of the schemes at various levels for better accountability and transparency, said a Government official who did not want to be named.

The project will be implemented in six months.
