Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu praised Jawaharlal Nehru for his vision of a people centric governance and initiatives to make India a scientifically advanced nation.

Addressing the civil servants attending 93rd Foundation Course, here on Wednesday, the Vice President also recalled how Sardar Patel foresaw the importance of a competent civil service for the unity of the country.

The course is being conducted by Dr. MCR HRD Institute of Telangana on behalf of LBS National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie and Dept. of Personnel & Training (DoPT). He stated that this is possible only if governance becomes corruption free. Venkaiah Naidu said that the people in the contemporary society are educated, aware of their rights, know about developments taking place elsewhere, and expect high quality of governance. “Administrators should, therefore, be receptive and willing to include the common man in decision making and in setting development agendas”, he said.

The Vice President also recalled Stalwarts B R Ambedkar, Subhash Chandra Bose, ShyamaPrasad Mukherjee, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee for their ever-lasting legacy. BP Acharya, Director General of the Institute, said that the objective of the Foundation Course is to inspire each of the Officer Trainees for pursuit of excellence in their respective fields of work.

The Course comprises 316 trainee civil servants, drawn from 21 different All India Services and Central Civil Services who belong to 26 different States of the country.
