West Bengal State Electricity Development Corporation Ltd (WBSEDCL) will set up a 1000MW pumped storage facility at Ayodha Hills in the Purulia district of the state at an estimated cost of Rs 6,922 crore.
The Japan International Cooperative Agency (JICA) will provide a loan assistance of Rs 5000 crore for the project. The loan agreement with JICA was signed on November 2.
According to a release issued by WBSEDCL, the project will have four reversible pump turbine units of 250 MW each.
