A worker, Lovaraju, was killed and two others were wounded on Sunday in the Coromandel International's fertiliser plant here. The worker was killed when he was handling some scrip which apparently contained a chemical. There was a blast and Loavaraju was killed on the spot while two others in the vicinity sustained injuries.
The injured workers are out of danger and they are undergoing treatment in a private hospital. AP Deputy Chief Minister N. Chinarajappa visited the factory and instructed the factory officials to pay compensation to the family of the dead worker immediately and take steps to prevent the recurrence of such accidents.
A case has been registered and the factory department officials said an investigation was going on to determine the chemical and to ascertain the causes of the accident.
