The National War Memorial project dedicated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Nation on Monday has been constructed by NCC Limited.
The Country’s National War Memorial constructed adjoining the India Gate Complex in the heart of the Capital is spread over an area of approximately 40 acres. It comprises of four concentric circles, namely- the ‘Amar Chakra’, the ‘Veerta Chakra’, the ‘Tyag Chakra’ and the ‘Rakshak Chakra’ with names of 25,942 soldiers inscribed in Gold leafing on granite tablets.
The NWM also includes a central obelisk, an eternal flame and six bronze murals depicting famous battles fought by the Indian Army, Air Force and Navy in a covered gallery (Veerta Chakra). YD Murthy, Executive VP (Finance), NCC, in a statement said it has privilege of constructing the National War Memorial Project pursuant to a contract awarded by Project Director, IDS, MES.
Keeping in view the sacrifices made by the soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces, NCC has taken this opportunity to contribute an amount of Rs 50 lakh to the Army Welfare CSR Fund. NCC had earlier contributed Rs 50 lakh to Bharat Ke Veer Corpus Fund which is managed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
