Our Bureau Nepal has outlined the potential for tourism and investment in a number of areas while promising all support to investors and entrepreneurs from India.

At a seminar hosted by the Embassy of Nepal in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) on ‘Tourism, Trade and Investment Opportunities in Nepal’ here, the tourism and investment potential of Nepal was showcased.

Investment opportunities in various sectors, including tourism, hydro power, construction, pharmaceuticals, textiles, wood and wood products, telecom, and transport equipment, were highlighted.

Bharat Kumar Regmi, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Nepal, said, “There are ample opportunities for investment and cooperation for the Indian companies across sectors. The year 2018 is a year of new beginnings in Nepal after successful conclusion of three tiers of elections, paving the way for political stability and good governance.”

Favourable policies

Highlighting the government’s policy for attracting foreign investment, he called on Indian companies to take advantage of the favourable industrial and investment policies.

Making a presentation on the potential for investment, Krishna Hari Pushkar, Minister-Economic, Embassy of Nepal, urged the Indian business community to invest in Nepal.

B Venkatesham, Secretary of Tourism, Telangana, said Telangana is interested to sign an MoU with the Nepal Tourism Board to promote India and Nepal together as tourism destinations.

Bilateral trade

Devendra Surana, Managing Director, Bhagyanagar India Ltd, said there was considerable potential to enhance bilateral trade by addressing the infrastructural deficiencies, trade restrictive measures as well as by adopting trade facilitation measures for easier market access.
