The Odisha Police Association has demanded the arrest of those who attacked policemen during a Congress rally on Thursday.
It also sought a judicial probe into the incident. “The criminal activities resorted to by the demonstrators in the name of agitation is deplorable,” the association’s President Sawarmal Sharma said.
On Thursday, thousands of Congress workers clashed with the police when they tried to gherao the Odisha Assembly building demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over the ‘coalgate’ row.
The fracas resulted in injuries to around 260 people, including 60 police personnel.
