Petrol pump owners have called off Friday’s nationwide strike, a communication from PSU oil marketers said. The United Petroleum Front, an umbrella body of three dealer associations, informed the PSU marketers that they have decided to also call off the indefinite strike and closure of sales and supplies that was supposed to start on October 27. Petrol pump owners and dealers had called for a strike to resist the new Marketing Discipline Guidelines (MDG) imposed by the PSUs that would penalise shortcomings at pumps. The dealers also wanted the sale of fuel to come under the purview of the new Goods and Services Tax.
