The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Wednesday approved a two-year extension for completion of urban housing projects sanctioned till March, 2012 under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
The construction of 3.60 lakh houses under JNNURM Sub-Missions of Basic Services to the Urban Poor (BSUP) and Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme (IHSDP) is still to be completed, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Urban Development.
This decision on the proposal made by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation allows Central financial support to continue until March 2017 to complete construction of the houses.
