Coinciding with World Environment Day, today, Hyderabad’s RBI senior officers’ quarters, ‘Manjeera’, was awarded the CII - IGBC (Indian Green Building Council) Platinum Rating under the IGBC Green Homes Rating System.
This rating is given to projects that implement green features and best practices right from the conceptual stage. Hyderabad’s RBI senior officers’ quarters is the third RBI project to go the IGBC way.
The IGBC Platinum plaque and certificate was presented to R N Dash, Regional Director, RBI, by C Shekar Reddy, Chairman, IGBC Hyderabad Chapter and K S Venkatagiri, Executive Director, CII Godrej GBC at a programme organised in Hyderabad.
Some of the green features incorporated in the quarters includes: 100 per cent LED lighting, 100 per cent rainwater harvesting, low-flow water fixtures, 100 per cent on-site waste treatment (OWC), 100 per cent waste water treated on-site Sewerage Treatment Plant, preservation of existing trees, natural landscape, daylight living spaces, good natural ventilation and cross ventilation, solar powered external lighting, efficient envelope, shading devices and solar hot water system.
C Shekar Reddy underlined that financial institutes in the country are in the forefront in adopting IGBC Green Building Standards. IGBC green homes save between 30 to 40 per cent of energy, water savings of 20 to 30 per cent and enhance the quality of life and wellbeing of the occupants.
IGBC aspires to facilitate 10 billion sq.ft of registered green building footprint by 2022, he said.
