Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), Basar, and Non Ferrous Materials Technology Development Centre (NFTDC), Hyderabad, have inked an MoU to pool their expertise and resources.
The MoU entails offering a joint M Tech and Ph D programme, exchange of faculty and scientists in course work as well as research, submission of joint project proposals to funding agencies, sharing of necessary laboratory equipment and facilities for collaborative research projects.
A few students of the RGUKT will also be given an option of serving in NFTDC upon satisfying the eligibility criteria, according to a press release. The MoU was signed by the A Ashok Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of RGUKT, and NFTDC Director K Bala Subramanian at Basar today.
The RGUKT offers UG, PG and Ph.D degrees in various programmes. NFTDC is an autonomous and self financing R&D institution under the Ministry of Mines, to work on advanced materials and innovative processes on one hand, and engineering design, analysis, electronics and instrumentation leading to component and systems development and integration on the other.
Rural Tech Fest
The RGUKT is hosting a three-day festival on ‘Rural Entrepreneurship, Women Empowerment and Sustainable Technologies’ from Tuesday. A total of 200-odd prototype working models are presented as part of the programme.
The Antahpragnya 2018 will see 90 different events and nearly 25,000 people from nearby places and other colleges taking part in the festival, which is the biggest Rural Technical Festival.
Addressing the gathering, District Collector Prashanthi Nirmal asked, “Why can’t we have Uber for tractors when there is one for taxis, as most farmers cannot afford tractors?”
Let us talk to Uber and explore the matter further with the company. If it materialises we would be the first district in the country to make tractors available on hire at affordable prices, she said.
She urged them to explore such innovative ideas in the technical festival.
“Be the change makers, rather than running to catch up with change,” said Ashok Kumar, VC of RGUKT and Commissioner of Board of Intermediate.
