Freshly-funded, technical solutions provider RoadCast, which mainly helps manage workforce and vehicle fleets, plans to expand pan-India, help police track their assets and control crime and also ‘uberize’ local taxi owners, empowering them to face competition from cab aggregators such as Uber and Ola.

Delhi-based RoadCast, which recently closed its angel round of funding, raising $250,000 from the UAE’s HNIs, aims to invest in expanding its operations across major cities in India, with a focus on Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.

Versatile platform

RoadCast is a tech-driven asset monitoring, fleet management, and vehicle tracking platform. It aims to help businesses with constantly moving on-field resources such as sales force, vehicles etc, said its Co-Founder Rahul Mehra. The start-up recently teamed up with the Delhi Police to keep tabs on crime. “Vehicle theft was a major problem in Delhi in the last decade. A vehicle was stolen every 13 minutes in Delhi and this crime rate increased 44 per cent in 2016 compared to the year before.

With RoadCast’s help, police and the people can now track such vehicles in real-time, cut-off fuel or ignition remotely, and set a geo-fence. The police control room can define a patrolling area for each vehicle and also get to know if a vehicle is over-speeding,” Mehra told BusinessLine .

With the help of RoadCast, the Delhi Police has integrated GPS trackers in their patrolling bikes. The platform allows officials to monitor patrolling. As a result, vehicle thefts have come down. The police is also working on providing increased safety to women and others, Mehra said.

RoadCast’s technical solutions are also being used by local taxi services competing with industry giants such as Ola and Uber.

“With these big players, the local cab service providers were forced to streamline their business processes and enhance efficiency to stay in business. We are helping them embrace technology and improve business. With RoadCast solutions, the cab service providers are increasingly ‘uberizing’ their fleets, track the taxi/cab activities and location in real-time while they are on the go with the ease of phone applications,” Mehra said.

The RoadCast app connects multiple users and allows real-time location sharing. Businesses can efficiently track and manage their fleet on the street with its solutions, he added.

Roadcast was founded in 2015 as a SaaS company for helping businesses manage their work-force and vehicle fleets in real-time. The core purpose of RoadCast was to connect people, goods and vehicles on the go in verticals such as food and grocery, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, laundry service, repair and maintenance, supply chain and logistics.
