The Canara Plastic Manufacturers and Traders Association (CPMTA) has said the State Budget has many proposals to encourage MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises) in the State.
BA Nazeer, President, CPMTA, said the introduction of rural business zones and State cluster development programme will add to the growth of MSMEs in the State.
There was a mention to set up an township authority for the Baikampady industrial area in Mangaluru in the last Budget, and that should be implemented with proper infrastructure and funding support, Nazeer said. The proposal to formulate a policy on labour-intensive industries to encourage setting up of employment-intensive industries in the State is a welcome step, he said.
UT Khader, State Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, said the Budget proposal to construct a vented dam across the Nethravathi in Mangaluru taluk will help improve the irrigation facilities in Dakshina Kannada district.
A proposal has also been made in the Budget to construct a vented dam at a cost of ₹174 crore at Harekala in Managaluru taluk to prevent salt water entering Netravathi.
