In a few days, passengers will be able to have a ride in metro rail directly between airport and Chennai Metro (Chennai Central) via Vadapalani, Koyambedu, Shenoy Nagar and Nehru Park — a distance of about 25 km in 45 minutes.
KA Manoharan, Metro Railway Safety commissioner, Southern Circle, is inspecting on Monday and Tuesday the underground single line section between Shenoy Nagar and Nehru Park , and double line between Nehru Park and Chennai Metro.
Asked when trains would start running in the inspected stretches, Manoharan said that on receiving the clearance, it is up to Chennai Metro Rail Ltd to decide.
Manoharan said that on May 18 and 19, he would inspect the stretch between Saidapet and AG-DMS.
