The Andhra Pradesh High Court refused to admit the petitions by Satyam Computer Services former Chairman B Ramalinga Raju and others that challenged their conviction by the special court on April 9.
The lower court (a Metropolitan court) had sentenced Ramalinga raju, his brother and former Managing director Rama Raju, former CFO Srinivas Vadlamani and seven others to seven years in jail under different sections of Indian Penal Code that ranged from cheating to criminal breach of trust, fudging and destruction of evidence.
All the ten accused are housed in the high security Charlapally jail near Hyderabad.
Rajus and others have moved the session’s court (a higher court) at Nampally a few days after their conviction, challenging the special court verdict. The court, however, rejected their plea, saying that their petitions were not maintainable.
They then moved the High Court, seeking relief. Hearing their appeal, Judge T Sunil Chowdary felt that the petitions were not maintainable in the court and asked them to move a session’s court.
