Silk Mark Organisation of India (SMOI) has established nine consumer testing centres in main retail hubs of Bengaluru .

The organisation has introduced a system to enable consumer with a quick and easy method of getting their silks tested for purity by trained personnel.

“Consumer is provided with purity tests like flame test, microscopic test and an invoice and a sample test report are given after the test,” said K M Hanumantharayappa, Chairman, Central Silk Board and Silk Mark Organisation of India.

The tests are carried out without disturbing the structure of the sarees and other materials at a cost of ₹20 per test. The tests will carried out instantly and the report issued on the spot.

As a tribute to the women, nine Consumer Testing Centres were inaugurated by Hanumantharayappa, Rajit Ranjan Okhandiar, Member Secretary, Central Silk Board and Vice Chairman, SMOI and Ramachandra, Managing Director, Karnataka Handloom Development Corporation.

Silk lovers of the city can rejoice the attires they purchase anywhere and also their existing textiles can be tested for purity of silks in these testing centres in BTM Layout, Chickpet, Cubbon Main road and other areas in Bengaluru.
