Teams from various competing States have started arriving at various entry points in Kerala, including the State capital Thiruvananthapuram, ahead of the official opening of the 35th National Games here tomorrow.
Teams from Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Services, Tripura, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Karnataka, Manipur, Goa, and Odisha arrived in the capital city on Wednesday and Thursday.
ARRAY OF VENUES
Kannur, which is hosting the wrestling and basketball matches, saw the arrival of teams from Manipur, Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh.
Teams from West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Telangana and Uttarakhand, which will be taking part in beach volleyball, football and volleyball, made it to Kozhikode on Thursday.
Teams from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Bihar, and Odisha have arrived in Ernakulam, which will be hosting the yachting, lawn bowls, fencing, badminton, table tennis, and archery contests.
An 18-member rowing team from Odisha coasted in at Alappuzha on Wednesday evening, while a 19-member Services team landed on Wednesday night.
By midnight on Wednesday, teams from Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh had reached the city of backwaters for taking part in the canoeing and kayaking races.
HOST TEAM
On Wednesday, teams from the Services, hosts Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, UP, Uttarakhand, Gujarat and Karnataka made their way to Kollam, which will be hosting the hockey and rugby matches.
Kerala is fielding the biggest contingent and is taking part in the largest number of events. The various Kerala teams have spread themselves out to the appointed venues across the State.
While officials and sportspersons in Thiruvananthapuram will stay at the Games Village at Menamkulam, three-star accommodation will be provided to sportspersons at other centres.
