The Sreedhareeyam group, which specialises in ayurvedic eye care, has chalked out expansions plans both in the country and overseas.
Hari N Nampoothiri, Vice-Chairman, said the number of branches would be increased to 100 in the next five years from the present 23. Plans are also afoot to open treatment centres in the US and Oman this year. With these plans, the business turnover is expected to touch ₹300 crore from the present ₹85 crore.
Nampoothiri was here to launch the company's new product of kajal for babies. India has an ancient tradition of making kajal at home to be used for the care and beauty of baby’s eyes. Extensive research has proven that proper eye care in the early days of childhood leads to better health in the future, he said, adding that there are also plans to go for online sales of its products starting with baby kajal.
Currently, there are about 350 products in its kitty which it is manufacturing at the unit near Kochi. It is also scaling up exports, which comprises 10 per cent of its turnover now. The company is trying for the US Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) approval for products, said Rajan N Nampoothiri, Executive Director.
