There are popular music fests in India usually involving a relaxed weekend of drinking and partying for thousands. But between the Storms, the NH7 Weekenders and Octoberfests, a smaller but closely curated event has, over the years, enthused both Indian and international artists and landed them in Nasik in Maharashtra, a region known for wineries. Since its first edition in 2008 which saw 300 invited guests, SulaFest will welcome more than 13,000 ticketed entries this year during the weekend of 7th and 8th February.

In 2014, a sold-out event had some 10,000 people gathering at Sula’s vineyards. What’s on offer this year is a remarkable, if peculiar, blend of gourmet food, wine and other beverages from the Sula Selections portfolio, spa massages, a VERO MODA fashion show along with the main fare – music. In other words, a larger than life promise to deliver the “perfect complete weekend”.

Cecilia Oldne, Global Brand Ambassador, Head - International Business, Sula Vineyards says, “We have one of the most gorgeous locations. That’s how we’re different. Consuming wine in that vineyard setting under the stars is just magic and the music just makes it all better. No one can beat our location.”

The amphitheatre has been increased by 30% and Sula Vineyards will be prepared with 250 tents as compared to just 100 last year. The festival will span about 4 acres, including resorts, tent coverage, parking lots, food and beverage stalls and grape stomping spaces.

While the leading act for this year is the USA’s Young The Giant led by frontman Sameer Gadhia from California, others like Gentleman's Dub Club, Will and the People, YESS SIR BOSS! along with India’s Lucky Ali, Nucleya, Swarathma and Sandunes are set to regale visiting weekenders. The fest’s Atmasphere stage will see DJ’s from around the world spinning house and techno music. SulaFest’s partnership with BlueFROG continues this year too.

Young The Giant has previously opened at the Kings of Leon worldwide summer tour. In their tour announcement video, NRI and lead vocalist Gadhia said, “We’re performing in India for the very first time, at the SulaFest’15… we’re very excited to see you there.”

Jehan Johar, Head of Music Programming, Blue Frog said in a statement, “Over the past few years, we've strived to bring amazing international and Indian talent to the Sula stage, and this year we feel we have surpassed all expectations and we are very happy to announce the most unique live music line-up of the year.”

And all of this not without NGOs like iMAD, Prabodhini and Sharan present at the fest as per Sula’s “long-standing commitment to give back to communities and causes in need.” While Cecilia Oldne reiterated a commitment to the local rural economy, Sula’s winery has notably had over 200,000 visitors last year. Festgoers too will have the opportunity to better understand the brand’s farming and sustainability practises.
