On April 20, Suresh Krishna (81), the doyen of the Indian auto component industry, will retire as the Managing Director of Sundram Fasteners Ltd. The company he founded more than five decades ago is now a multi-product and multi-location company with annual revenues of more than ₹3,000 crore. While the octogenarian will continue to be a Director and Chairman of company’s Board, the Generation Next will take over.

Present joint Managing Director Arathi Krishna (49), second daughter who joined the Board in May 2006, will succeed him as the Managing Director of the company.

Under her leadership, several new product lines were established and stabilised leading to a robust growth and operating performance of the company.

Arundathi Krishna (44), third daughter of Suresh Krishna, has been appointed as the Joint Managing Director, effective April 20. She has been the Deputy Managing Director since 2013, and has been on the Board since 2008. She oversees the operations of the domestic subsidiaries and the international subsidiaries in China and England.

Arathi holds a management degree from Michigan Business School, US, while Arundathi Krishna has done an MBA from University of Michigan, US.

The change in key managerial positions of the company was approved in the board meeting held on Thursday.

Suresh Krishna founded the company in 1964. He has been at the helm since its inception. He served as the President of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) during the years 1982-84 and as the President of the CII during 1987-88.

The government of India conferred the Padma Shri award on Suresh Krishna in 2006.
