Come Monday, there will be more visibility on the new dates when fresh bids will be invited by NDMC for the iconic Taj Mansingh. This is because the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) will on June 18 (Monday) issue a notice that spells out the date for furnishing of fresh technical and financial bids for the e-auction, said Karan Singh Tanwar, Vice-Chairman, NDMC.

This comes a week after the e-auction of iconic hotel failed to garner enough attention from the bidders.

“Notice will have the dates of technical and financial bid. It will also have the opening and the closing time of the tender. This time we have not changed the terms and conditions of the tender as compared to the previous one,” Tanwar said. He said that the tender norms will be changed in future if this time too the minimum three parties response is not achieved.

It may be recalled that the earlier e-auction was cancelled in the wake of only one party qualifying for the bid

Earlier, only two parties: Tata Group’s Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) and ITC had applied for the bid. Out of which, the ITC’s bid got cancelled because it only brought hard copy and could not submit it online in the given time. Bidding norms required submission of soft copies for being eligible to participate in the bidding process.

Therefore, only IHCL turned out to be the successful bidder.

The 292-room iconic hotel situated on Man Singh Road was given to IHCL on a lease for 33 years, the lease of which expired in 2011. It was after that the NDMC decided to auction the property.

Later, IHCL moved the Delhi High Court challenging the decision. It was after several extensions that the apex court gave its nod for e-auction last year.
