The Hindu Centre for Politics and Public Policy has been ranked 33rd among the top think tanks in China, India, Japan, and the Republic of Korea by the 2018 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report.

The report, published by Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program, The Lauder Institute, University of Pennsylvania said the largest number of think tanks in 2018 are from the US (1,871) followed by India (509) and China (507). Japan and South Korea have 128 and 60 think tanks respectively.

The ranking was based on several parameters such as quality and reputation of research and analysis produced, academic performance and reputation, quality, number, and reach of publications, impact of research on policy makers, media reputation and a demonstrated commitment to producing independent research and analysis.

The Hindu Centre for Politics and Public Policy, a division of The Hindu Group, was inaugurated by the then President of India, Pranab Mukherjee on January 31, 2013 to promote research, dialogue and discussion to enable the creation of informed public opinion on key issues facing India and to safeguard and nourish the country’s parliamentary democracy and pluralism.

The Hindu Centre has so far supported 31 short-term public policy scholars, hosted consultations, round tables, public discussions and special lectures on key governance and policy issues featuring distinguished speakers.
