The Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering at Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore has developed a sensor-based sanitiser dispensing unit.

The automatic dispensing unit was developed by modifying the commercially available battery operated sprayer using sensor based circuit.

The simple circuit can dispense the solution when the hand is brought near the sensor. The solution stops immediately when the hand is taken away, said scientists involved in the development of the unit.

Appreciating the effort, TNAU Vice Chancellor N Kumar said that the dispenser would be more hygienic for use in office where lots of people move. “Whoever enters the office would just have to show his/her hand to the sensor; the liquid would be dispensed immediately and the flow stops as soon as the hand is moved away.”
