Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) has set up a testing facility for underwater weapons such as torpedoes, mines, decoys, sono buoys and other related systems in Visakhapatnam.
The facility was formally inaugurated by Secretary (Defence Production) Ajay Kumar today. The new on-site test facility enhances the manufacturing capabilities manifold and opens up opportunities for handling multiple projects simultaneously, according to a press release.
The acoustics systems of the underwater weapons are required to be tested and calibrated in water environment prior to their deployment in the actual sea waters.
The Chairman & Managing Director of BDL, V Udaya Bhaskar apprised Secretary (DP) of various naval products being undertaken at Visakhapatnam Unit.
