Kerala Tourism will launch a new global campaign to specifically market its backwaters. A National Geographic Traveller survey had voted them ahead of the Taj Mahal as a tourist destination.
The Department of Tourism is now planning a blitz in the national and international media as well as the social network with its Great Backwaters campaign from run later this month, an official spokesman said here.
The campaign will feature high-quality aerial photographs of the backwaters. Tourism Minister A.P. Anilkumar said that the backwaters are not about houseboats alone.
“It is also about discovering a fascinating water world unlike any other on our planet.” The campaign is expected to significantly increase the number of both foreign and domestic visitors.
