Clay-based building material solution provider Wienerberger India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Austrian firm Wienerberger, launched a dry-fix solution for the construction industry here today.
The product, Porotherm Dry Fix system, comes with ground clay hollow blocks and super glue that binds the block together eliminating the need for water or sand.
Addressing media persons at the launch, Monnanda Appaiah, Managing Director, said that at a time when the construction industry is suffering from shortage of sand and water, dry fix could be a solution.
“Price is on par with the conventional construction method,” he added. Before the launch, the product was tested in Bengaluru for three years and was successful. “The response has been good and we expect to increase the production of Porotherm G used for dry fix in the next three-four years,” he added.
The facility in Bengaluru, which can produce two million Porotherm blocks, is running on full capacity. Right now, Porotherm G accounts only for 15 per cent.
Dry Fix, the super glue, is imported from Europe.
