Gurgaon-based Management Development Institute has recently organised an independent director’s programme for senior armed forces officers.
The 12-day-long in-company programme was hosted for the benefit of senior officers who were nominated by the Directorate General of Resettlement, Ministry of Defence. These courses were aimed to prepare officers to act as independent directors in companies after their retirement.
The courses covered a host of subjects like corporate scenario in India, corporate laws, corporate governance, global reporting standards for better transparency and governance, corporate ethics, economic regulation and governance, managing dynamics of the board and governance issues in public sector. Officers across the ranks including Captains, Lieutenant Colonels, Brigadiers, Major Generals, Group Captains and Air Vice Marshals participated.
