At the outset, we wish you all a Happy New Year, and hope this year is full of great achievements and experiences. The beginning of the year is a good time to introspect about the year that just went by. From India's mission to Mars to its ever expanding current account deficit, from the legitimisation of the selfie to the rise of Malala, and from the Aam Aadmi Party to the loss of Nelson Mandela — a lot happened in the year 2013.

While there were some moments that made you happy, others made you sad; there were also times that made you wonder why.

If last year belonged to the common man and the success of the Aam Aadmi Party, this year also, we believe, could well belong to the common man, you and I. And the motto: Just do it!

So the New Year wish for you is to try out new things, learn new skills and push yourselves. We should make grand plans to change the world and set even grander goals to change ourselves. Try things we’ve never done before. Rise, fall, but keep our heads high through it all. Most important, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good or perfect. Whatever it is that we’re petrified of doing, we should just do it. We should look at the year as another chance to get it right. And through it all, remember, always, that well begun is half done.

What are the New Year resolutions you have set for yourselves? Let us get inspired by them too. Write to us at > bloncampus@thehindu.co.in and tell us what they are.
