The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) is planning to start a program on Policy and Management in the coming months, Ashish Nanda, Director, said at the 50th convocation of the institute on Saturday.
"We are contemplating establishing a Policy and Management Programme in the near future," Nanda said during his convocation address here in the presence of Ajay Banga, President and CEO, MasterCard.
Nanda shared details about the institute's working with alumni and corporate well-wishers. "In the recent past, alumni and corporates together have contributed to 11 faculty chairs and faculty fellow positions at IIM-A," he said.
At the convocation, where over 500 students were conferred diplomas in IIM-A's PGP, PGP-ABM, PGP-X and FPM programmes, some of the alumni from the institute’s first batch were also present.
Banga, who along with his wife were also alumni of the institute, advised students to be patient in the adverse market scenario.
Speaking to the media after the convocation, Banga expressed optimism about the Indian economy. "The economy is in a good shape. The impetus behind the Indian economy is a strong one. What the Prime Minister has set out to do is create more jobs by focussing on manufacturing through the Make in India scheme. There is a lot of momentum. Foreign investments are coming in. Things don't change in three months or six months. You must have patience," Banga said.
