The Academy of Architecture, Mumbai, won Transparence 2013, Saint-Gobain Glass’s annual design competition, at the 56th National Association of Students of Architecture Convention in Hyderabad on January 29. The Academy of Architecture was awarded ₹75,000. The first runner-up, IIT-Kharagpur, and the second, SPA, Vijayawada, were awarded ₹50,000 and ₹25,000 respectively. Scholarships worth ₹1 lakh were given to three students to pursue architecture projects.
For the first time since its inception in 2005, Transparence’13 had invited entries from students from SAARC nations as well.
The COMSATS University, Islamabad, won the SAARC edition of Transparence.
According to a press statement, regional rounds for submissions from architecture and design colleges in India had been conducted in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai in November 2013 and two colleges from each region were selected from over 1,200 registrations and over 260 submissions to compete in the finals held at the NASA Convention 2014.
The final round was judged by architects Ranjit Sabikhi from Ranjit Sabikhi Architects, India; Shahab Ghani Khan from Pakistan; and Mustapha Khalid Palash from Bangladesh.
