Chennai-headquartered Dr Agarwal’s Healthcare Ltd, which specialises in eye care, has raised ₹270 crore from Temasek Holdings of Singapore. Dr Agarwal’s has 75 hospitals in India and 14 in 10 countries in Africa. The hospital chain will use the money to double the number of hospitals in India to 150 in five years and invest in technology for super speciality eyecare. It treats 10,000 patients every day and the target is to increase this number to 30,000 in five years. ADV Partners, which invested in the Series B round, continues to stay invested in the company. After the expansion, the number of doctors will go up from 350 to 800.
