Around 350 rural schools and anganwadis spread over 11 districts in Maharashtra are going to see a splash of colour in their surroundings. The interesting initiative took off last weekend in village Muthavali Tarf Tale where artists and volunteers came together to participate in the ‘Rang De Maharashtra’ (Colour Maharashtra) programme. The brain child of Maharashtra Village Social Transformation Foundation, along with corporate partners and volunteers, it looks to recreate the learning environment for rural children. Joining the effort to transform drab anganwadis and build a cheerful environment in schools was Floating Canvas Company, a Mumbai-based art start-up. “…When we got to know about this wonderful campaign, we knew we had to be a part of it. Art can go a long way in inspiring young minds,” said Rahul Singh Yadav, Co-Founder of the start-up. Ramnath Subramaniam, CEO of the Foundation, explained the goal, “… to create a better environment for students in rural areas, leading to greater educational outcomes and a reduction in attrition/dropouts.”

The way to go for other States as well.
