This year’s International Yoga Day (June 21) will see Prime Minister Narenda Modi participate in the government’s flagship event, from Dehradun. The choice of location stems from Rishikesh and Haridwar being known as the ‘Capital of Yoga’, the Ayush Ministry said. Besides Yoga-related events to be held across the country, the Centre is also using the day to pay special attention to women. The Ministry is developing a Yoga protocol aimed at women over 40, in consultation with the Indian Menopause Society. This programme looks at health issues in this age group. The Centre has, this year, also asked the Indian Space Research Organisation to map participation across the country on the 4th International Day of Yoga.
