Announcements Dr Reddy's launches generic Proscar Our Bureau
Hyderabad , June 21 Following Teva Pharmaceuticals being awarded 180-day marketing exclusivity for Finasteride, the generic version of Merck's Proscar upon the expiry of patent, Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd has announced that it has launched the authorised generic version of Proscar in the US market on Tuesday. Dr Reddy's had earlier entered into an agreement with Merck, which allows it to distribute and sell generic versions of Proscar (Finasteride 5 mg) and Zocor (Simvastatin), upon the expiry of Merck's patents covered by these products, provided there is an 180-day exclusivity after the patents expiration for either product. The patent for Zocor is set to expire by weekend. Based on the 180-day marketing exclusivity, Dr Reddy's would take a decision on launching the generic version of Zocor in the US market.
