Hyderabad , June 22

Andhra Bank is planning to equip ATMs with a software solution that allows its customers to post voice queries and requisitions.

The solution, developed by city-based start-up NowPos Online Services, is likely to be installed in the bank's ATMs in rural areas in the initial phase.

According to Mr Ayyappa Nagubandi, CEO of the company, the bank has agreed to install the software in its ATMs.

In the pilot, the solution would be installed in three prototypes, which would be replicated in other machines later.

Mr Nagubandi said that the customer, after inserting the card and keying in the PIN, can talk to the machine, posting queries related to account, and make requests such as requisitions for cheque books and change of address.

The company has applied for a global patent for the product, named vATM.

"We are also talking to one of the largest private banks and a foreign bank to sell the solution," he said.

The company was going to build and assist in maintaining a portal with voice-based services for a well-known spiritual guru.
