HCL starts manufacturing in Uttaranchal

New Delhi , Oct. 29

HCL Infosystems Ltd inaugurated its manufacturing unit at Rudrapur, Uttaranchal, at an investment of about Rs 70-75 crore. With the start of the new facility, the manufacturing capacity would grow to two million from the current one million at its Pondicherry plant. While HCL has recruited more than 200 local employees, it plans to recruit around 500 people after the plant gets fully operational.

Initially, the plant would manufacture desktop computers and LCD monitors and later would also cover products such as notebooks, servers and thin clients.

"With strong facility base in the South and the North, we will be able to serve customers through better logistic efficiency, lower time to market the products and would be able to de-risk our complete manufacturing portfolio," said Mr Ajai Chowdhry, Chairman and CEO.
