Foreign Trade States - Tamil Nadu German state keen to share expertise with Coimbatore Our Bureau
The Minister said Saxony had the highest per capita income in his country, thanks to its "technology and highest quality". These two factors were because of the close co-operation between the industry and teaching. The unique research facilities in the universities had made Saxony the Mecca of Technology. The Tamil Nadu Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries, Mr M. Raman, appealed to the visiting team to consider investing in Coimbatore. The District Collector, Mr Neeraj Mittal, said the city could emerge as the engine for industrial growth and lead in industrial production and information technology. The entrepreneurship culture and availability of human resource could trigger the region's growth potential, he said. Mr Jayakumar Ramdass, Chairman, CII Coimbatore zone, said Indian investments in Germany were often small, but growing private business initiatives.
