Red Hat, Intel launch joint programme

Our Bureau

Bangalore May 10 Red Hat and Intel have begun a joint programme to deliver operating software for desktop PCs with Intel's virtualisation-enabled vPro processors inside them.

The Appliance OS from Red Hat will support pluggable `virtual appliances,' available through ISVs. Virtual appliances can be used to enable functions such as network security, provisioning, monitoring and asset management, regardless of the state of the desktop OS.

In collaboration with Intel, Red Hat plans to develop, productise and support the necessary software components, including the hypervisor, the Service OS and the software development kit (SDK).
